We hired Centennial Painters to repaint the exterior of our home, and the results exceeded every expectation. Our house was eight years old and still had its original paint, but we wanted to completely transform it with a more timeless, classic look featuring a white body and black trim. The finished product is absolutely stunning. From the beginning, Eric and his team stood apart from every other company we contacted. Eric spent approximately 45 minutes carefully walking around our home, evaluating the condition of every surface, and explaining exactly what would be required to achieve the best possible result. Other companies were in and out within 15 minutes and provided very little explanation. Centennial Painters was also the only company that recommended fully priming the house before applying the new color. Although we selected Sherwin-Williams Emerald paint, which includes primer properties, Eric explained that the dramatic color change could still result in uneven coverage or spotting without a consistent undercoat. That level of knowledge, honesty, and attention to detail gave us confidence that they were focused on doing the job correctly rather than simply doing it quickly. Our painters, Dennis and Giovanni, spent six full days meticulously putting their experience and craftsmanship to work. They took extraordinary care to protect our windows, patio, landscaping, and everything surrounding the home from paint, spills, and overspray. Their preparation was thorough, their work was precise, and their attention to detail was exceptional. Dennis and Giovanni are truly masters of their craft. The lines are clean, the coverage is flawless, and the transformation of our home is remarkable. It looks better than we imagined it could. We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome and could not recommend Centennial Painters more highly. Anyone considering painting their home should make Centennial Painters one of their first calls. Their professionalism, expertise, preparation, and quality of workmanship are on another level.+1Posted on Google![]()

Centennial Painters did a great job on the exterior of my house; for, what I thought, was a very competitive price. I checked out a few painters in the market and I’m glad that I went with Eric and his team. Hi crew came in, power washed, primed, caulked and painted my entire house in a day. My house is a one-story ranch - so maybe not as big as some other houses out there. But I’m glad I hired Centennial Painters and I’ve already referred them to my mom for some of her interior painting needs.
Popular Kitchen Island Colors In South Denver Homes
Denver's design trends favor natural, earthy palettes and sophisticated neutrals. These island color combinations are timeless and complement mountain modern, contemporary, and many other kitchen styles:
Navy Blue Island with White Cabinets
Island: Sherwin-Williams' Naval (SW 6244) or Benjamin Moore Hale Navy (HC-154)
Perimeter Cabinets: White or off-white cabinets
Classic and timeless, navy creates a sophisticated contrast without the stark drama of black. This combination works beautifully with marble, quartz, and butcher-block countertops, as well as stainless steel appliances.
Charcoal or Soft Black
Island: Sherwin-Williams' Cyberspace (SW 7076) or Benjamin Moore Kendall Charcoal (HC-166)
Perimeter Cabinets: White, cream, or light gray cabinets
Modern and dramatic, charcoal anchors contemporary kitchens with clean-lined appeal. Softer than true black, these colors provide impact while remaining approachable and versatile.
Deep Green and Cream
Island: Sherwin-Williams' Evergreens (SW 9130) or Benjamin Moore Hunter Green (2041-10)
Perimeter Cabinets: White, cream, or warm neutral cabinets
Earthy and on-trend, deep green brings an organic sophistication that complements Colorado's mountain aesthetic. This color pairs beautifully with other earthy elements, like natural wood accents and stone countertops.
Warm Gray or Greige
Island: Sherwin-Williams' Dorian Gray (SW 7017) or Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray (HC-168)
Perimeter Cabinets: White or lighter gray cabinets
Subtle and versatile, warm grays create contrast without bold color commitment. This approach works well in transitional kitchens where understated elegance takes priority.
Natural Wood Island with Painted Cabinets
Island: Stained white oak or walnut
Perimeter Cabinets: White or light-painted cabinets
Exceptionally popular in Denver-area homes, natural wood islands add warmth and organic texture. This combination works beautifully in mountain-modern and Scandinavian-style kitchens.
Designer Guidelines for Island Colors
Rule #1: The island should anchor the room
Choose colors with visual weight that ground your kitchen design. Darker tones or rich wood stains work best.
Rule #2: Repeat the color elsewhere
Echo your island color in lighting fixtures, bar stools, backsplash accents, or window treatments to create cohesion.
Rule #3: Create contrast with your countertop
Dark islands pair beautifully with light countertops (marble, white quartz). Light islands work well with darker counters.
Rule #4: Coordinate your wall color
Your island color should harmonize with, not fight against, your kitchen wall paint and overall home palette.
Colors to Approach with Caution: Very bright colors, trendy pastels, and bold reds or yellows often date quickly and may hurt resale value. Stick with sophisticated neutrals and earthy tones for timeless appeal.
Our Kitchen Island Painting Process
1. Assessment & Color Planning
We evaluate your island's size, prominence, and any decorative features like beadboard, panels, or furniture-style legs. During your complimentary color consultation, you'll select an island color that coordinates with your existing counters, backsplash, and flooring, while also achieving the design you're looking for.
2. Specialized Paint Preparation
Islands receive heavy daily use and require extra preparation for long-lasting paint adhesion. All surfaces are thoroughly degreased, sanded, and primed with bonding primer.
3. Professional Island Finishing
Your island is spray-finished using premium cabinet-grade paint in a separate spray cycle from your other cabinets. Multiple thin coats ensure durable, smooth coverage. Follow our simple care guidelines to protect your investment and keep your kitchen island looking its best.
Island painting adds minimal time to cabinet projects, typically just a few hours for the separate spray cycle and additional masking.

Kitchen Island Painting FAQs

For larger islands and open-concept kitchens, a contrasting island creates a focal point, adds visual depth, and anchors your kitchen design. Matching islands also work well in very small kitchens. During your consultation, we help you decide which approach best suits your specific kitchen.
Navy blue is the most requested island color in South Denver, followed closely by charcoal gray and natural stained wood. Navy creates a timeless, sophisticated look with white or cream cabinets. Deep greens are also increasingly popular for homeowners who love organic, earthy aesthetics.
There's typically a small additional cost ($200-500 depending on project size) as we'll need to spray the island separately and separate paint products required. However, the dramatic visual impact a contrasting island creates far outweighs this minimal investment.
